jonathan Jonathan Brigdale, M.F.A.
Program Head

Graphic Media Design


A Masters degree in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, Jonathan brings the artists eye for colour and form to an enviable level of expertise with the most powerful computer graphics programs used in the design industry today. This unusual combination of technical mastery and artistic understanding makes him a considerable asset to our courses in graphic design.

He has taught painting and life drawing at both the University of Victoria and the University of Saskatchewan.

True to the ethos of our school Jonathan applies his real-world experiences for the benefit of his students, thus bridging the gap between the experimental atmosphere and the practicalities of industry.


jennifer Jennifer Forbes, B.A.
Instructor
Graphic Media Design

Jennifer has an honors degree in commercial art and over 15 years of graphic design experience. She has worked as an art director in the magazine publishing industry; as a graphic artist in the advertising department of a major newspaper; and as an art director in most aspects of the graphic design industry.

Her experience in this field ranges from work for international agencies such as UNICEF to corporate clients in the real estate and tourism industries. She also enjoys the personal interaction of working with small companies and helping them develop corporate identities and marketing strategies.

Jennifer enjoys sharing information and has been a part time instructor for over ten years. She also owns a small graphic Design Business here in Victoria.

anthony Anthony Manning

Anthony has been working in the New Media Industry as a Multimedia Developer/ Programmer for over seven years.

Anthony has also been involved in the teaching industry for seven years as a Multimedia Instructor at local private career colleges in Victoria BC.

He has spent the last three years as a contractor growing his Multimedia Development company creating custom applications, CD-ROMs/DVD, Web Graphic/Design, 3D Animation, Adobe Director programming, Flash programming and Animation. He is also the architect and curriculum developer of the 3D Animation and Video Game Design program.

shane Shane Yakelashek, B.A.
Instructor
Graphic Media Design

Shane started working with the Apple II computer in 1980. This ignited an interest in computing, which developed into a diverse career in multimedia and post production.

Since graduating from the University of Victoria in 1995 he has been working in Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto for clients such as UVic, TD Bank, The Toronto Blue Jays and Coca-Cola.

Ranging from web design to visual effects for film and television, Shane brings to our school a skill set that is not only vast, but also up to date. He has recently completed work on a national (U.S.) reality TV series, the broadcast design for a major TV network re-brand, and has several ongoing web projects underway. This wealth of industry experience is an asset to the Graphic Media Design department and students.
