Part-Time Evening Class

This course covers website design as it applies to web development. Students will learn web design and its best practices using today’s core web design building blocks: HTML5, and CSS3.

Students will cover HTML5, CSS3 information architecture, website structure, user interface, and navigation. Students will learn to incorporate responsive design to create a more dynamic and web compliant websites.

For any students with prior HTML and CSS knowledge, PDA also offers a Web Design II part-time course, a more advanced web creation course focusing on furthering your skills.

Course Length: 6 weeks, 36 hours

Fees: $595.00 taxes included.

This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. As such, PTIB did not review this program.

Class 1:
Course overview (class outline).
Planning website structure using a site map.
Introduction to HTML5 & CSS3.

Class 2:
Types of HTML elements, syntax, CSS basics

Class 3:
Semantic elements, CSS selectors & pseudo-classes.

Class 4:
Anchors & the box model.

Class 5:
The box model continued, responsive design & media queries.

Class 6:
Media queries continued, flexbox, embedding external resources like Google Maps, YouTube videos, Tweets, and so on.

Class 7:
Introduction to front-end component libraries.

Class 8:
Using JavaScript frameworks for animation.

Class 9:
Using JavaScript frameworks continued.

Class 10:
CSS transitions and animations.

Class 11:
Animations continued, keyframes.

Class 12:
Open Graph Protocol & Search Engine Optimization (SEO), project round-up and demos.
