Part Time Studies
Pacific Design Academy offers a range of part time courses aimed at those who wish to further develop their skills and knowledge in the design field.
Part time courses are currently offered in the following areas:
INTRODUCTION TO 3D ANIMATION AND VIDEO GAME DESIGN
Summer Camps Starting Monday June 30th 2008 Bring your imagination to life with our "NEW" 3D Animation & Video Game Development Design Program. This program is geared towards student(s) who have little or no experience with 3D Animation or Video Game Design. Spider Man, the Incredibles and Cars are just a few major motion pictures that have utilized digital animation and effects. Now you to can learn the skills necessary to develop your own movie/game environment, you too can now master Industry tools such as Alias Wavefront Maya with the aid of our talented instructors.
Vectorworks Level I
This six week certificate course introduces participants to Vectorworks; a full featured drafting and design program.
Course Length 6 weeks long, includes 12 - 3 hour sessions.
Course Overview Learn your way around the Macintosh operating system, and Vectorworks software, one of the most widely used CAD programs in the building design industry. Students will learn drawing setup, the use of walls, parametric doors & windows, 2D geometries, dimensioning and annotation, classes, 2D and symbols and controlled duplication. Basic building construction theory will also be covered. Finishing project will include designing part of a residential home and deck.
Prerequisites Prior computer experience and strong electronic file management skills are highly recommended for success in this course.

Pattern Making
Learn to draft flat sewing patterns for tops, skirts, pants and dresses. This class will work through taking a set of measurements and converting them to make basic pattern shapes. The class will then look at manipulating commercial patterns and interpreting a variety of different designs.
Course Length 6 weeks long, includes 12 - 3 hour sessions.
Course Overview Students will complete this course with not only a full set of standard pattern blocks and patterns but also the skill to create and construct clothing patterns on their own.
Students should bring a quilting ruler, a curved ruler as well as a pen and paper. All other supplies will be provided by the Pacific Design Academy.

Introduction To Photoshop
This six week workshop introduces participants to the amazing array of possibilities provided by Adobe's image-editing program, Photoshop.
Course Length 6 weeks long, includes 12 - 3 hour sessions.
Course Overview Participants will learn how to navigate around Photoshop's interface and become familiar with the various tools and techniques necessary for basic photo manipulation.
The following topics will be covered: making selections, adjusting contrast and color, retouching, masking, resolution issues, and the use of layers for collage and photo-composition.
Prerequisites Prior computer experience and strong electronic file management skills are highly recommended for success in this course.
