Suzanne DeStaffany is originally from Friday Harbor, Washington, making Victoria her adopted home since 1997. As a computer-based artist/illustrator and digital photographer she creates a surprisingly wide scope of subjects within a mostly electronic medium. Images are printed using archival inks on acid-free watercolour papers. Her professional background is multi-faceted, and includes logo and sign design, medium- and large-format printing, even headstones.

Subjects vary widely, ranging from human emotions to intricately-detailed interpretations of recognizable objects. Using digital filters and specialized design software, she combines fractal mathematics with familiar icons from everyday life. The final results are often meditative or dreamlike, and are richly coloured. Kaleidoscopes are also a favourite theme; photographs from her travels are transformed into a new world of dazzling patterns that belie their unlikely origins.

Suzanne's adolescent dream of becoming an album cover artist remains undiminished to this day. Influences include the vivid memories of her older brother's extensive 1970's record collection, as well as the work of contemporary visual artists such as La Boca's Scot Bendall and Alain de la Mata. The infectious, surreal humour of The Mighty Boosh is a more recent creative incitement, though it remains unclear if this is a good thing.
